The 2008 Burton Awards
The ninth anniversary event will be held at the Library of Congress on June 16, 2008. Associate Justice Stephen Gerald Breyer will be the guest speaker. Bill Press will be the Master of Ceremonies. C-Span will be covering the Justice's presentation. The theme is a "Salute to the Democratic Process." Black tie attire is required. Attendance is by invitation only and all seating is pre-arrannged.
To begin the series of functions, a special cocktail party will begin at 4:00 p.m. on June 16, 2008 in the Kluge Center at the Library of Congress. "The Honoree's Cocktail Hour" will be followed by the awards program at 5:15 p.m.; another cocktail party at 7:00 p.m in the Great Hall; dinner in at 7:45 p.m., and an after-dinner tribute to Andrew Lloyd Weber with a trio of Broadway performers and a full symphony orchestra.

THE SALUTE TO THE MUSIC OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBER WILL FEATURE THE PAN AMERICAN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA AND STAR
SAL VIVIANO - Has succeeded the lead actors in the Broadway companies of Romance / Romance; City of Angels, Falsettos; and most recently, The Life. Toured nationally as Che in Evita (Lloyd Webber). Regionally, he received a 1998 Helen Hayes Award nomination as Best Actor in a Musical for the title role in the Arena Stage revival of Sunday in the Park with George in Washington, DC, has appeared at the White House and has performed with symphony orchestras throughout the country.
JAN HORVATH - Jan is best known from her work on Broadway and in the Symphonic Orchestra world as a guest soloist . She appeared in five Broadway shows including the original companies of "The Phantom of the Opera" where she performed the roles of Christine and Carlotta; Bob Fosse's "Sweet Charity" (the first revival starring Debbie Allen); and "The ThreePenny Opera" starring the one and only Sting. Jan toured around the country playing a very old cat - Grizabella, (you know the one who sings "that song") in Lord Lloyd Webber's "CATS" and the National company of "Phantom." She also had the privilege of performing in "The Bernstein Mass" at the Vatican in Rome and Carnegie Hall. Jan also performed in national company of The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber with Michael Crawford which toured the U.S. including at Radio City Music Hall.
TRISHA RAPIER - Appeared on Broadway in "The Boy From Oz" opposite Hugh Jackman and a European tour of The Music of Andew Lloyd Webber. She starred in "The Who's Tommy" in the National Touring Company. Regionally, she starred in "Evita."
