The Burton Foundation Announces 2002 Burton Award Winners
New York, N.Y. - Each year, the Burton Foundation selects 15 partners or counsel from the top 500 firms and 10 law school students from across America to receive one of the coveted Burton Awards for Legal Achievement. Today, William C. Burton, founder of the Burton Awards, announced the 2002 Burton Award winners. This highly competitive event honors legal professionals and law students for excellent legal writing.
"This year's Burton Award winners truly exemplify the goals we specified for the organization," says Burton. "Their talented writing sets an example for all members of the legal profession to follow." The Burton Awards are dedicated to the refinement and enrichment of writing in the legal profession. The program annually honors lawyers and law students who use clear, concise language and avoid archaic, stilted legalese.
The submissions, nominated by managing partners of law firms and law school deans, include articles written in journals and publications from the previous year.
