Joe Pierce
Senior Vice President and General Counsel, AMB Sports & Entertainment

Joe Pierce is Senior Vice President and General Counsel of AMB Sports & Entertainment. In this role, Joe leads all legal affairs for the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and PGA TOUR Superstore chain, and provides counsel on sponsorship, media, litigation, labor and employment, finance, intellectual property and League policy matters across the Blank Family of Businesses.
Prior to joining AMB Sports & Entertainment in December 2020, Joe served as Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer for Hornets Sports & Entertainment. In this role, Joe managed all legal affairs for the Charlotte Hornets, Greensboro Swarm, Venom GT esports team and the operations of Spectrum Center arena.
Joe joined the Hornets from Bank of America, where he spent five years as Senior Vice President & Associate General Counsel for Global Marketing & Corporate Affairs. In that role, he served as lead counsel in negotiating and drafting sponsorship and licensing agreements related to the company’s sponsorship of properties such as the NFL, MLB, the PGA Tour and NASCAR. Prior to that, Joe spent several years as Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs for Comcast Sports Group in Philadelphia, where he negotiated and drafted television rights agreements for professional and collegiate teams in leagues and conferences including the NBA, NFL, MLB, PAC-12 and the ACC.
Joe began his career in sports with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he served as Associate General Counsel from 2002-05, after spending four years as a corporate lawyer at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto, California where he represented emerging growth technology companies and investors in venture capital financings, public securities offerings and mergers & acquisitions.
Joe currently serves on the Board of Directors of Cullen Frost Bank (NYSE: CFR) and the Sports Lawyers Association, and is an Advisory Director for Enterprise Mobility. Joe was named to Lawyers of Color’s Inaugural Nation’s Best List in 2019 and received the Samuel A. Halsey, Jr. alumni award from Georgetown University in 2020. Joe also received the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association Trailblazer Award in 2023, and in 2024 was named to Savoy Magazine’s Most Influential Executives in Corporate America list.
Joe is a native of San Antonio. He graduated from Georgetown University, where he received a bachelor’s in business administration in Finance, captained the track & field team and became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He earned dual Juris Doctor and MBA degrees from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and Wharton School of Business. Joe and his wife, Kama, have three children, Marco, Julian and Jasmine.
