Lisa G. Iglesias
Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Unum Group

Lisa has served as executive vice president and general counsel of Unum Group since January 2015. Unum is a leading international provider of workplace benefits and services, offering disability, life, accident, critical illness, dental and vision insurance as well as leave and absence management support and behavioral health services and has been recognized as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere®. As the general counsel, Lisa has overall responsibility for the legal affairs of the corporation, and heads a team of lawyers handling transactions, contracts and investments, SEC reporting, corporate governance, corporate compliance and ethics, privacy, regulatory matters and relationships, government affairs and litigation. As part of her role, she also oversees the Internal Audit, Aviation and Information Security functions for Unum.
Collectively, Lisa has spent almost 25 years serving as a general counsel for four Fortune 500 companies in customer service and regulated businesses. Immediately prior to joining Unum, she served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary for WellCare Health Plans, Inc., a managed healthcare company. Prior to that, she served as general counsel and corporate secretary at Nordstrom, Inc., a fashion specialty retailer, and as general counsel and secretary of Spherion Corporation, a recruiting and staffing company. She began her legal career as an associate with the law firm of Greenberg Traurig, specializing in securities and mergers and acquisitions. She graduated first in her class from the University of Miami law school.
Lisa is also a certified public accountant, having received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from the University of South Florida, and practiced with KPMG before leaving to attend law school.
Since 2021, Lisa has also served as a director for Ambac Financial Group, Inc. and currently also serves as the Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee. She is active in her community and serves on the Board and Executive Committee of the Public Education Foundation and is an Advisory Council member for the PODER 25 initiative of the Hispanic National Bar Association, and a member of the Latino Corporate Directors Association.
Lisa has been married to her husband, Dan Iglesias, an attorney, for over 30 years. They reside in Chattanooga, Tennessee and have a daughter, Cristina Iglesias, who works for Live Nation, and a son, Alexander Iglesias, a professional artist and photographer, both living in California.
